It’s that time of year again, folks. Emissions West Coast Bass Culture 2015 is right around the corner, and all of us here at Booms and Claps are counting down the days. Many people go to certain festivals each year purely on the basis of good vibes and people; and while Emissions has no shortage of either, the Camp Questionmark crew makes an incredible effort to “wow” you in the music department. Acting as the Mecca for bass heads of the West Coast (and increasingly beyond), Emissions consistently books the perfect ratio of established and up and coming artists alike. This magical weekend is surreal in the best ways possible. Do you ever dream of taking over a once successful gold mining town in Plumas National Forest with all of your closest friends, bringing top of the line sound systems, and plopping yourself on an inner tube on the river? Yeah that’s a reality.
Camp Questionmark‘s commitment to crafting a lineup that represents the full spectrum of original and forward-thinking bass music is impressive, to say the least. It’s clear that they take great care to ensure that the lineup not only covers the staples in West Coast bass music (G Jones, NastyNasty, Bleep Bloop, Stylust Beats), but also some veterans in the game (6Blocc, The Gaslamp Killer), some artists that fall more on the beat-music spectrum (Lindsay Lowend, Losco), some swag dubstep (Truth), and even some chronic hip-hop from the likes of Aesop Rock and Jurassic 5’s Chali 2na. With most festivals focusing on “tropical house” and the same 4 headliners they’ve had for the past 6 years, we’re pleased that we can still count on Emissions to come through with the goods, every year. In addition to these heavy hitters, we’ve chosen a few other artists to watch out for: Tsuruda, Noer the Boy, Trevor Kelly, Shlump, Toadface, ONHELL, Perkulat0r, and Northwest favorite, Pressha.
If you’re in the Bay Area next weekend, be sure to get a sample of what’s in store by hitting up the Emissions Fest Preparty with Sweater Beats, Buku, Andrew Luce and much more. RSVP and get your tickets here!
