[PREMIERE] Sigrah delivers “Bad Habits” single from debut full-length LP “This is Letting Go”

The idea of writing a full-length album isn’t very common for producers in today’s electronic music landscape, and for good reason. Media is consumed at such an incredibly fast rate in 2020, and single tracks barely even get a full listen most of the time. Even the way we consume music in the live setting is consolidated: DJs usually play somewhere between 30 seconds and 2 minutes of any given track before moving on to the next one, and tracks are often blended and chopped so that the live audience isn’t even hearing the original track as it was produced, let alone the entirety of the song. With that context in mind, it’s entirely logical that we don’t see many albums from these producers. Beyond the context of audience attention span… It’s simply just incredibly difficult to write a cohesive LP, and to be honest, many of the “albums” that I DO hear from electronic music producers would have been better off as 3-track EPs.

The rarity of the full-form album makes it all that much more special when a producer truly finds their sound and comes through with an intentional, cohesive body of work that deserves the attention of the listener for more than 15 minutes. That’s exactly what Booms and Claps favorite Ben Hagris AKA Sigrah has done with “This is Letting Go”. Ben has taken an amalgamation of all the ideas, concepts, emotions and sounds that he’s touched on over the past several years and transformed them into an impressive body of work that I’m confident will have the replay value we seek from a good album for years to come. Spacey beats, meditative jungle, dance floor bops… Sigrah does it all here.

Today’s premiere from the album comes in the form of “Bad Habits”, an ethereal masterpiece that sets the tone for the rest of the release well. I’m sure you’ll be just as hooked as we were after hearing this one. Settle in, this one’s quite the journey. Sigrah’s full album drops everywhere on March 12, 2020
