Plastician‘s Terrorhythm Recordings has been perfectly situated for 2014’s grime and purple renaissance. Sitting astride the two genres, Terrorhythm has released golden material from new names such as Parkinson White, Kyle Cook, KRNE and Deon Customs alongside the remastering and remixing of Plastician’s own classic tracks.
The newest addition to Terrorhythm’s release schedule is their Elements Series; free music from lesser known artists given the marketing/mastering/art of a paid release. The previous additions (titled Onyx and Sodalite) have impressed, and Topaz is a worthy addition to this geologically-minded effort. A rocky release in name only, Topaz is a polished, purple gem. On “Oriental Colours”, Belgium’s Laetho weaves an Asian-inspired, multi-instrumental melody through soaring synths, while “Perception” with Abu Simbel follows delicate piano keys into a massive, yet melancholy drop.
